Free Besieged, Draft B

2006, 2007

In Free Besieged, Draft B, Konstantinos Rigos, one of the leading figures of the vibrant Greek dance theatre scene, crosses paths with Greece’s national poet, Dionysios Solomos, using verses from Solomos’ The Free Besieged.

Inspired by the world-view espoused by the poem’s heroes, the work focuses on the contrasts between freedom and the denial of freedom, between enclosure and the boundlessness of nature.
